What it does

The spreadsheet features you actually use.

SimpleSpread covers the everyday work of a spreadsheet, and does it the way Excel and Google Sheets do, so there’s nothing new to learn.

  • Works with Excel files

Open and save .xlsx files from Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. Charts, comments, conditional formatting and data validation in a file are kept when you save. If a file has something SimpleSpread can’t write back, it tells you before it saves.

  • 157 functions

SUMIFS, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX and MATCH, TEXTJOIN, NETWORKDAYS, IRR and more, with the same results and rules as Google Sheets. Formulas recalculate as you type.

  • Charts

Column, bar, line, area, pie, doughnut and scatter charts. They redraw as your numbers change, and Excel opens them as if it had made them.

  • Pivot tables

Drag fields into rows, columns, values and filters, as in Excel. Group dates by month or quarter and show values as a percentage of the total. Layouts are checked cell by cell against real Excel.

  • Sort, filter and find

Sort by several columns, filter by value or by condition, freeze the header row, and find and jump to any cell. Undo works for everything, including deleted rows and sheets.

  • CSV done right

Imports work out the delimiter and the text encoding, keep leading zeros, and never run a formula hidden in the data. Exports open cleanly in Excel.

Speed

Small, and quick to open.

SimpleSpread is written in Swift from the ground up, with no web views and no third-party libraries. It opens big files in the background, so the window never freezes.

On iPad

The same app, made for touch.

On iPad, SimpleSpread opens files from iCloud Drive, On My iPad and other places in the Files browser, and edits them where they are. It saves as you go.

Tap to select, double-tap to edit, drag the handles to grow a selection, and pinch to zoom. With a keyboard and trackpad it works just as it does on the Mac, menus and shortcuts included.
